Parenting After Loss: Welcoming a New Baby

Welcoming a new baby after the death of a child can bring profound joy alongside grief, fear, and tenderness. This six-week group provides a safe, supportive space for parents parenting a subsequent baby, to explore the unique emotions that arise when love and loss coexist.

The group is open to all parents—birthing and non-birthing—and registration is individual. Couples are welcome, with each parent registering separately. Babies are also welcome. While there may be more mothers or birthing parents present, all parents are warmly invited to join.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Share your story and connect with others who understand this delicate journey

  • Explore strategies for caring for your new baby while honoring your loss/es

  • Receive support navigating the emotional, practical, and relational complexities of parenting after loss

Together, we hold space for both joy and grief, acknowledging that parenting after loss is a journey of carrying new life alongside the memory of the child who died.

The group will meet on Mondays at 4:30 pm - 6:00pm PDT/7:30 pm-9:00 pm EDT from January 26th - March 9th, 2026 (No session will be held on February 16th.)

Facilitator: Betsy Winter

What can I expect during a virtual support group?

  • Virtual support groups are 90-minutes in length.

  • Our groups are topic focused and structured in a way that builds on content from the previous week.

  • Every session has a similar flow. Each group starts with a guided meditation or body-centered mindfulness practice.

  • The topic of the week is introduced, which includes some education.

  • Then there will be group sharing in response to a topic-related question and facilitated discussion.

  • Groups end with a period of reflective sharing. Where relevant, the group may be led in writing, creative expression, or embodiment exercises to support resource building and integration.

How will this support group help me?

  • These types of losses are very isolating—you will learn that you are not alone.

  • Our hope is that you will find community with others who have similar loss experiences.

  • By sharing your story, your loss experience is witnessed by others in a supportive and non-judgmental setting.

  • You never imagined you’d be in this situation. You will receive guidance and resources for your grieving journey.

Cost: $200.00 ($33 per session)
