Honoring Norbert's Legacy, 19 Years Later
by Kiley Hanish
Our son Norbert, born still into this world on July 12, 2005, would be turning 19 years old this year. It seems like a lifetime has passed since his arrival, yet his presence continues to resonate within my soul, shaping who I am today. I celebrate him and all the love that he has given to me, my family, and to our community.
The loss of Norbert has irreversibly altered the course of my life, guiding me down a path I never could have foreseen. How is it that years later, I am still fiercely passionate to ensure that all parents who experience loss on the journey to parenthood have access to inclusive, grief-informed support and resources? It is Norbert's legacy that fuels this flame, but it extends far beyond just honoring his memory.
I am driven by a fervent desire to ensure that no parent walks the lonely road of loss without the support, community, compassion, and resources they so desperately need. The reality is that we can hold both the pain and sorrow of grief with hope and healing. I am determined to let others who have been impacted by these devastating losses know that as well. This work is my lifeline, my purpose, and my commitment to make a difference in the lives of those who share in the heartbreak of loss.
As we propel RTZ Hope forward, we stand at a pivotal moment, ready to elevate our impact and extend our reach. Our vision revolves around growth and creating a sustained difference in the lives of those we are dedicated to serving. Please join me in making a donation in honor of Norbert, your babies, and pregnancy losses to help continue the work of Return to Zero.
Pregnancy and infant loss is a unique type of loss, leaving the grievers to feel isolated and unsure of how to move forward. We'd be grateful if you would consider making a contribution to RTZ HOPE. Your gift ensures that other parents who endure loss on their journey to parenthood have the support, resources, and community they need in order to navigate life after loss.
With your support in 2023 (Annual Report) RTZ HOPE continued to fulfill our mission of serving over 250,000 bereaved parents and the healthcare providers who support them through a variety of free and reduced fee programs and offerings.
