Continuing Your Journey

After receiving a serious or life-limiting diagnosis, the path ahead may look very different from what you once imagined. Whether you are continuing your pregnancy, have made the difficult decision to end a wanted pregnancy, or are grieving the death of your baby, you may find yourself navigating a changing landscape of emotions. Some days may feel lighter, while others may bring renewed sadness, fear, or uncertainty. All of these experiences deserve compassion and understanding.

As you continue your journey, know that moving forward does not mean forgetting your baby or leaving your experiences behind. It may mean finding ways to honor your connection with your baby while allowing yourself space to continue living, loving, and finding moments of hope.

Honoring Your Baby

Every family's relationship with their baby is unique, and there is no right way to honor that connection. Some parents find comfort in creating traditions or rituals, while others celebrate and connect with their baby in quieter, more personal ways.

You may choose to take photographs, write letters, create a memory box, choose a special piece of jewelry, or simply speak your baby's name. Some families find meaning in celebrating milestones during pregnancy, while others may honor their baby's birthday, due date, or other meaningful dates. Lighting a candle, planting a tree or garden, or creating family traditions may also bring comfort.

Your bond with your baby matters, whatever your circumstances or the path ahead. Many families find comfort in discovering new ways to honor that connection over time.

Healing at Your Own Pace

Healing does not mean forgetting your baby, leaving your grief behind, or moving on from your experience. It may mean learning to carry your love, grief, and uncertainty as part of your story, while finding ways to care for yourself along the way.

You may find that your emotions change over time. Some days you may feel strong, while other days a memory, milestone, difficult decision, or unexpected reminder may bring intense emotions to the surface. This does not mean you are moving backward. Your feelings are a natural response to what you are experiencing and the love you have for your baby.

Give yourself permission to experience these emotions without comparing your journey to others. There is no timeline for healing, and there is no expectation for when you should "feel better." You deserve compassion and support wherever you are in your journey.

Your Journey Is Your Own

There is no perfect way to navigate this journey. You may be facing uncertainty, making difficult decisions, grieving a loss, or adjusting to a future that looks different from what you imagined. The love and care you have for your baby matter, even in ways that may not always be visible to others.

Be patient with yourself. Accept support when you need it, allow yourself moments of peace without guilt, and give yourself permission to experience whatever emotions arise.

Above all, know that your baby matters, your story matters, and you do not have to walk this journey alone.
