Caring For Yourself
Receiving a serious or life-limiting diagnosis during pregnancy can be emotionally and physically exhausting. You may notice changes in your sleep, appetite, energy levels, or ability to concentrate. Navigating uncertainty, difficult decisions, and concerns about your baby's well-being can take a toll on both your mind and body.
Caring for yourself during this time is not selfish, nor does it take anything away from the love and care you have for your baby. Your needs matter, too. Even small moments of rest, connection, or comfort can help support you as you navigate the days ahead.
Giving Yourself Grace
There is no perfect way to navigate this experience. Some days you may feel capable of managing what lies ahead, while other days even the smallest tasks may feel overwhelming. Your emotions may change from day to day, and there is no expected timeline for adjusting to difficult news.
Give yourself permission to slow down, change your plans, step away from activities, ask for help, or simply rest when you need to. Try not to compare your experience to that of other families. Every family's circumstances and emotional experience are different.
You are doing the best you can with the information, circumstances, and emotions you have today. That is enough.
