Return to Zero: Hope Provider Spotlight
Tell us a little about the work that you do
Healthy Start Enhanced San Bernardino provides a forum for the community voice in efforts to improve the health of mothers and babies through our community consortium. The goal of the consortium is to reduce the infant mortality rate. Through our program offerings we offer the community free mental health services and support groups. We also host an annual Wave of Light event to provide resources and community support to bereaved families. We also share bereavement resources and education on our social media. Additionally, we partner with other organizations at the local and national level to raise awareness about the infant mortality crisis, amplify efforts, and create actionable plan to address it. Susan Lowe: Susan Lowe is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist and experienced speaker and consultant, with a private practice dedicated to supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum, and loss. Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience, she offers compassionate care to those navigating grief, with a special focus on women of color and underrepresented communities. Through her work, Susan helps families heal, find resilience, and reclaim hope.
How has RTZ impacted your work?
We provide RTZ's brochure and material at our annual Wave of Light event. They will also be used in the San Bernardino Fatherhood program for bereaved fathers.
Return to Zero: Hope is a community of bereaved parents, families, and providers offering inclusive resources and holistic support for anyone whose life has been touched by loss, including infertility, secondary infertility, miscarriage, ending a wanted pregnancy, stillbirth, infant or toddler death, loss through surrogacy or failed adoption.
Provider interactions during pregnancy and infant loss have a lifelong impact on a family’s healing and wellbeing. RTZ Hope supports organizations and individuals who work with parents who have experienced perinatal loss, including hospitals, clinics, health providers, midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, mental health clinicians, peer advocates, and support organizations. We partner with health professionals to ensure they have the training, emotional support, and resources they need to confidently care for families at one of the most tragic moments of their journey towards parenthood.
This year alone, we've sent over $3000 in grief and loss material samples to health providers so they are more resourced and empowered to support bereaved families. Will you donate and help us continue to get these resources into the hands of those that need them?
