Ashley, Spreading HOPE for Paetyn

Ambassador Ashley Mccormick, fundraising in memory of paetyn

“In December 2020 I found out I was expecting our second child. We were so excited to be welcoming another baby into our life. When we went in for our 12 week ultrasound we found out our baby had stopped developing, and there was no heartbeat. The next day I had to have a D&C. After that we decided we wanted to try again, but it took us a year and a half to conceive again. We found out we were pregnant again in September 2022. We were so excited! My pregnancy was perfect. She was developing right on track. We had gone in on a Monday for our 37 week check up and she was great- had a good heart rate. The next day I was worried about her movement, but just thought I was being paranoid since we had just been to the doctor the day before. I couldn’t shake the feeling, so I went in. That was the absolute worst day of my life. I found out that my baby girl had no heartbeat. Her cord had gotten wrapped around her neck four times. She was born April 29, 2023 6lb 7oz 21 inches long. She was absolutely beautiful, and I miss her everyday!

After I lost my daughter I was looking for resources about stillbirth, and other moms I could relate to. I had felt so alone. I started following on Instagram. I hate that this is how I found the page, but it brings me comfort to know, unfortunately, I’m not alone.”

Pregnancy and infant loss is an unique type of loss, leaving the grievers to feel isolated and unsure of how to move forward. We'd be grateful if you you would consider making a contribution to Ashley’s fundraiser in honor of Paetyn. Your gift ensures that other parents who endure loss on their journey to parenthood have the support, resources, and community they need in order to navigate life after loss.

With your support, here’s what we were able to accomplish during 2022 (2022 Annual Report):

  • Fifty percent of support group participants received financial support to ensure that all parents have access to services.

  • Enhanced outreach to and created support services for Black, Indigenous, and other Communities of Color as a response to the alarming rate of preterm births and stillbirths caused by racial disparities in perinatal and infant health.

  • Offered 50 different support group programs (virtual workshops, virtual support groups, and in-person retreats) to our community of bereaved families.

  • Supplied our unique perinatal bereavement guides to 400 hospitals and providers to assist in caring for grieving families.

  • Hosted 10 perinatal bereavement education webinars to parents and providers.

  • Created community and spread awareness about pregnancy and infant loss through social media.
