Anita, Spreading HOPE for Mary Rose and Elizabeth Leia

Ambassador Anita Bubany, fundraising in memory of mary rose and elizabeth leia

“Our daughters Mary Rose and Elizabeth Leia came into this world three years ago last month and shortly after they were born passed away in my husbands arms.

Their names are mentioned daily in our home. Our three living children ask about them, talk about them, and draw pictures of them. And they tell their newest baby sister about the twins as well.

Our living children are reminded of their sisters daily in the beauty that surrounds us. In each butterfly that passes by or in the flowers we stop to smell, and in the sunrises and the sunsets we feel their presence. And Mary and Elizabeth's names are mentioned.

Their brief life catapulted me into a transition of deep healing and deep living. I found myself wanting to grow emotionally and spiritually at exponential levels. I now live my life very differently, more intentionally than I had prior to the girls being born. I find ways to connect to the girls on the other side meanwhile allowing myself to be present to my children earthside.

Return to Zero: HOPE has given me an opportunity to tell our story. I have been connected with others who have experienced tremendous losses followed by immense transformation and healing. Being in community with other families has allowed me to feel included, supported, and uplifted during this time of a lifetime spent healing.”

Pregnancy and infant loss is an unique type of loss, leaving the grievers to feel isolated and unsure of how to move forward. We'd be grateful if you you would consider making a contribution to Anita’s fundraiser in honor of Mary Rose and Elizabeth Leia. Your gift ensures that other parents who endure loss on their journey to parenthood have the support, resources, and community they need in order to navigate life after loss.

With your support, here’s what we were able to accomplish during 2022 (2022 Annual Report):

  • Fifty percent of support group participants received financial support to ensure that all parents have access to services.

  • Enhanced outreach to and created support services for Black, Indigenous, and other Communities of Color as a response to the alarming rate of preterm births and stillbirths caused by racial disparities in perinatal and infant health.

  • Offered 50 different support group programs (virtual workshops, virtual support groups, and in-person retreats) to our community of bereaved families.

  • Supplied our unique perinatal bereavement guides to 400 hospitals and providers to assist in caring for grieving families.

  • Hosted 10 perinatal bereavement education webinars to parents and providers.

  • Created community and spread awareness about pregnancy and infant loss through social media.
